Spring and Everything is Blooming Most Recklessly!

Spring is a busy time. Nature is a flurry of bees, birds, flowers bursting; gardeners are out with their trowels and beer gardeners are working the patios citywide. Koval is not immune, and we are as busy as ever - with major moves on the horizon, transcontinental travel, and the usual bustle of fundraisers, tours, tastings, and more.

 Kothe Distilling Workshop

Koval's sister company, Kothe Distilling Technologies, held its spring workshop this past weekend at the distillery. This was the largest class yet! We welcomed 42 aspiring distillers and spirit fans from all over North America for three packed days of intensive instruction.

 Craft Spirit Awards!

Hard work pays off! Koval spirits are earning accolades!

Each year, the American Distilling Institute hosts a panel of judges to blind taste America’s finest artisan spirits. This year, the judges found fineness in Koval. We won two medals, a Bronze for the Lion’s Pride Dark Millet and Silver for the 47th Ward.

Koval won four awards at the Third Edition of the International Whisky Competition hosted by Few Spirits in Chicago! We won twice in the Best American Whiskey category- Gold for the Lion's Pride 47th Ward and Bronze for the Lion's Pride Dark Millet. Koval took home two more medals in the Best White Whiskey Category- Silver for American Oat and Bronze for Chicago Rye. Congratulations to all the other winners!

 Whisk(e)y Live 2012!

Whisky Live is quite the happening for whiskey aficionados. The event brings together industry experts, producers, and fans from all over the world.

Robert attended Whiskey Live on April 11th in New York, along with Koval’s 47thWard, Lion’s Pride Rye and Millet, the Ginger, Chrysanthemum Honey, and Rosehip Liqueur, and Rye Chicago to taste.

On Saturday, April 14th, Lion's Pride was at the Kansas City Live Whiskey Tour, the Midwest’s Premier Whiskey Tasting Event. Along with more than fifty other North American distillers, Koval's Lion’s Pride Dark Rye, Dark Wheat, and Dark Oat was available to taste. This was a great festival for whiskey sipping, all of which benefitted two great local causes.

A Night of Conscious Cocktail & Cuisine

CitySwarm, a Chicago-based event company, is organizing an evening of conscious eating and drinking for a trolley-full of Chicago's young professionals. On the eve of April 24, the group will first visit Uncommon Ground for quick nibbles of Slow Food, sip a Koval inspired cocktail, and discuss the importance of the farm-to-table movement. Afterward, the trolley will bring folks to Koval for a tour, tasting, and introduction to the grain-to-bottle movement. Be sure to check out CitySwarm for tickets, while they are still available!

 Fondue & Spirits

On April 25, the Melting Pot of Downer's Grove, will be offering a romantic four-course meal with Koval pairings. The evening begins with tastes of our Chrysanthemum Honey, Jasmine, Ginger, and Rosehip Liqueurs, and continues with four courses of spirit-inspired seasonal dishes and cocktails from the Koval portfolio. Reservations are required for this memorable evening of food and drink. Contact the Melting Pot at (630) 737-0810
