Lion's Pride Whiskey Gift Guide

The Gift of Whiskey: So many options….which one should you choose?

For those that like a smooth Irish whiskey or a Canadian blend?

Go for the Lion’s Pride Dark Wheat. Wheat is a flavorful grain, but has a much smoother flavor than rye. Winter shots of this delicious whiskey will put Jameson and Canadian Club to shame.

Gifting for a scotch drinker?

Try the Lion’s Pride Spelt. None of our Lion’s Pride will ever be considered ‘peaty,’ since we don’t use peat like they do in Scotland. But the unique flavors this ancient grain acquires from aging in lightly-charred barrels is reminiscent of the fruity notes in a Speyside Scotch.

The best whiskey for out of town guests?

The Lion’s Pride Dark Oat remains the Chicago favorite and is a must-serve at any holiday party. The creamy sweetness of oat blends perfectly with the dark char barrel resulting in a caramel finish. (Trivia for the guests: No one made whiskey from oats in the USA before Koval.)

And for the old-school whiskey drinker?

Lion’s Pride Dark Rye is a must. Unlike any other rye whiskey on the market, the complexity and flavor of rye shine through with notes of spiced apple and butterscotch.

A whiskey for someone that says they don’t like whiskey?

American Oat White Whiskey. It hasn’t been aged, hence it’s white. Oat has a creamy, soft flavor that will enrapture any vodka lover.

And Gifts for the rest of 'em...

But Koval doesn’t just make whiskey. Here are some gift ideas for our other unique spirits.

For the Ginger Bread lover?

Ginger Liqueur. It’s our best seller for a reason. 60 pounds of fresh ginger go into every batch. Great on its own, mixed with soda water, or into a mean hot toddy for the holidays.

For the cocktail queen?

The Rose Hip Liqueur mixes with bourbon, gin, vodka, and rum. Literally, it is the Mr. (or Ms.) Potato Head of cocktails: mix and match as you please.

For your Gluten-Free uncle?

Raski Millet White Whiskey or Lion’s Pride Dark Millet. Millet is naturally gluten-free so he can imbibe the holidays away without a care.

Need a gift for a java monster?

The Coffee Liqueur is your savior. Brazilian coffee beans are medium roasted and you can smell the fresh beans in the liqueur. Be careful, you will want to have this instead of coffee in the morning.

For the boss who’s adventurous?

Go for something unique with our limited-edition Bierbrand (a distilled beer from Metropolitan Brewery). Only 200 bottles were made of this spirit, and it is all Chicago. The beer was brewed by our next-door neighbors and distilled in our potstill to leave a deliciously unusual spirit that has a nose of hops and barley.

For the boss who’s not adventurous?

Koval Rye Vodka – smooth, with subtle pepper notes. Perfect in a vodka and soda, or dry martini.

For your soon-to-be sweetheart?

If it’s too soon for a diamond bracelet, opt for the Chrysanthemum Honey Liqueur to show her how wonderfully sweet she is.
